Urban legends that are told mouth to mouth – and today also in the discussion forums of the internet – are a way to keep up the oral tradition in modern world. Even in their incredibility they are true in an universal way. Art functions similarly. Within art it is possible to process ideas in a convincing way, even if the means or details used are impossible and absurd in the real. The exhibition Urban Story examines through the work of eight artists different viewpoints of how we today imagine and tell stories. The exhibition asks the questions of how should we perceive the world of today, which is filled with reality entertainment, and how to process the information that is situated on the shifting boarder between the reality, fiction, playfulness and imminence.
