Matts Leiderstam Night of the Art’s star at Kalhama&Piippo
Swedish Matts Leiderstam is one of the foremost Nordic, neo-conceptual artists and his solo exhibition has been an anticipated event in Finland. The exhibition at Kalhama&Piippo opens on the Night of the Arts and continues to the 21st September. The exhibition brings high-quality international contemporary art to Helsinki during the Helsinki Festival.
Matts Leiderstam demands a lot from the viewer, since his works are not only visual, but incorporate complex references to art history. He examines art works and their relation to ownership, gaze, nature, different genres and copying. The exhibition in Helsinki will feature photographs and video installations.
Simultaneously with the exhibition at Kalhama&Piippo Leiderstam is participating in the third Guangzhou Triennial in China, which opens 7th of September. Leiderstam’s works have previously been exhibited in both North America as well as Europe. In 2006 Leiderstam obtained a Ph.D. in Fine Art at the Malmö Art Academy.
