I see the paintings turn into brush strokes and the exhibition space converts into a painting, artist Anna Retulainen says.
Anna Retulainen was born in Orimattila and currently lives and works in Finland. Her paintings are in a dialogue between the tradition of painting and contemporary art. She combines traditional fruit and vegetable still lifes and flower arrangements with impulsive and spontaneous painting. Retulainen likes to distract the viewer’s expectations of still life painting, or of what a painting “should look like”.
